When Government Contracting Remembers the People

The Avery Group founder and CEO Akinwande Oshodi took the stage at the Humanizing Government Contracting Summit, joining the panel “Putting the Human Back Into Government Contracting.” The event, hosted by nDemand Consulting and FORUM at MODEx Studio in Atlanta, gathered leaders who believe this work is about more than compliance and paperwork.

It is a theme that sits at the center of how The Avery Group operates. Behind every contract is a federal employee trying to do their job, a veteran looking for a path forward, and a community waiting on a service that has to work. Akinwande has spent his career keeping that truth in view, from his years as a soldier to the programs TAG delivers today across the VA, CDC, FDA, and the U.S. Army.

His message on the panel was simple. Process matters, but people close the gap between intent and outcome. The agencies that move fastest are the ones that treat their partners and their workforce as the point, not an afterthought.

That perspective is not a talking point for him. It is how the company was built. The Avery Group, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, was founded on the idea that mission work succeeds when the people carrying it are supported, equipped, and trusted to lead.

Conversations like the one at MODEx Studio matter because they keep the industry honest. Government contracting can lose its way in acronyms and line items. Summits like this one bring it back to the reason the work exists at all.

Thank you to nDemand Consulting and FORUM for creating the space, and to everyone who showed up ready to put people first.
