At The Avery Group, we’ve always believed that true success extends beyond the boardroom and client engagements. While we’re dedicated to empowering agencies through our mission-critical consulting services, we’re equally committed to empowering the communities we serve. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Elevate Basketball Academy—a youth-focused initiative designed to inspire, mentor, and develop the next generation of leaders.
Our vision for Elevate Basketball Academy goes far beyond teaching young athletes how to dribble, shoot, and score. We’re creating a platform where children can develop essential life skills that will serve them well into adulthood. Through the game of basketball, participants learn discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership—qualities that translate directly from the court to the classroom and beyond.
The academy represents our belief that sports can be a powerful vehicle for personal growth and community connection. For many of the children who participate, this marks their first introduction to organized athletics, providing not just a fun and engaging experience, but also a foundation for building confidence and character.

Our inaugural Under-14 Clinic on December 19th at Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos Island exceeded all expectations. With the incredible support of the Lagos Basketball Association and some of the region’s most skilled coaches, we welcomed over 100 enthusiastic young athletes ready to learn and compete.
“Watching these kids light up as they learned new skills and made new friends reminded me why community investment matters so much,” says Breanna Pierce, Capture & Proposal Manager at TAG. “It’s incredible to see how sports can build confidence and bring people together.”
The energy throughout the day was infectious. Children participated in structured coaching sessions, engaged in friendly competition for league trophies, and formed new friendships through teamwork exercises. What struck us most was watching shy participants transform into confident team players, cheering for their teammates and celebrating collective achievements.
“At TAG, we believe in creating opportunities that extend beyond our client work,” reflects Akinwande Oshodi, Owner of The Avery Group. “Programs like Elevate Basketball Academy allow us to invest directly in the communities we serve and help young people discover their potential both on and off the court.”
Every child left the clinic with an award or certificate of participation—a tangible reminder of their effort and a symbol of what they can accomplish when they commit to something meaningful. These weren’t just participation trophies; they were recognition of each child’s willingness to step outside their comfort zone and embrace new challenges.

The success of our first clinic reinforced our conviction that community investment creates lasting positive impact. When we provide young people with opportunities to develop their potential, we’re not just helping individual children—we’re strengthening entire communities.
The partnerships we’ve formed with local organizations like the Lagos Basketball Association demonstrate what’s possible when committed groups work together toward shared goals. These collaborations amplify our impact and ensure that programs like Elevate Basketball Academy can reach more children and create more opportunities for growth.
As we continue to expand Elevate Basketball Academy, we remain focused on our core mission: creating opportunities that empower, uplift, and inspire. We’re already planning additional clinics and exploring ways to deepen our community engagement through sports and mentorship programs.
At TAG, we understand that building a better future requires investing in today’s youth. Through initiatives like Elevate Basketball Academy, we’re proud to play a role in helping young people discover their potential, develop their character, and become the leaders our communities need.
